Hart Miles

Hart Miles grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and attended Broughton High School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Campbell Law School. Upon completing law school, Hart served as an Assistant District Attorney in Wake County, North Carolina. As a prosecutor he handled a variety of cases including election law violations, tax violations, driving while impaired, death by vehicle and other crimes.

Hart opened his own small law firm in 1997, and it quickly became noted by the media, legal peers and in the community as one of the top small firms in the area. For 21 years, Hart represented professional athletes, doctors, CEOs, law enforcement officers, and attorneys, among numerous other folks from just about every walk of life. During that time Hart gained extensive experience arguing cases before juries and won numerous jury trials. Appearing in state and federal court, Hart’s clients included individuals charged with first degree murder, sex offenses, drug trafficking, embezzlement, political corruption, and many other offenses. Hart has represented Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald in his quest for exoneration for the better part of 16 years. The case has been the subject of multiple books, television shows and movies. Hart has also appeared in front of numerous professional boards, defending professional license holders against a variety of allegations.

Hart has always believed that each case provides an opportunity to help a person in need, and his goal is to treat each client with the utmost respect and compassion.

He has been recognized by his peers as they selected him numerous times as one of North Carolina’s Legal Elite in Business NC Magazine, most recently in 2021. Hart was also named a Super Lawyer in 2021 and named as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2021 by those publications. The media has turned to Hart on several occasions for legal commentary and analysis. He has appeared on-air on news and events shows as well as provided statements for the printed media.

In 2018, Hart was honored to become part of the Cheshire Parker family. Bringing a wealth of experience in serious cases and now with an amazing team of lawyers and support staff behind him, he looks forward to providing clients with exceptional representation in the difficult and stressful situations that occur during the course of a criminal prosecution or other legal proceeding.

Hart has volunteered his time to the Wake County Bar by serving on the Indigent Appointment Committee and also the Grievance Committee. On a personal note, Hart has been married to his wife Kathy for 20 years and they have two teenage sons.
